Considering the Needs of Others

April 17, 2020

Coronavirus, covid-19, Cares Act, quarantine, furlough, layoff, unemployment, social distancing, bankruptcy, stimulus, Zoom.

These are some of the hot words of our current time. As we think about these words and how they apply to ourselves, I believe it's also important to consider how these words apply to those around us.

With the Cares Act currently rolling out stimulus checks to some individuals/families and loans to some businesses, I'd encourage each of us to consider the best use of these funds (or whether we should be signing up for them at all). Certainly these monies and loans will be crucial for those who are being hit harder in this time. Others may be receiving money or taking a loan which will be used for discretionary desires instead of need. I'd like us all to consider today to reach out to the local community: friends, neighbors, and local businesses. Let's unite like we have in the past and use this time of difficulty to help one another in need.
